So it is a few months late, but here goes my picks for the best movies last year. Now, these are in no particular order, and making a mental list I am already well passed five.
Celeste and Jesse Forever
Loved everything about this movie, just a simple and meaningful story. Who can't relate to being a mess, and trying to get it together?
ARGO
Though not the most historically accurate story, what is in hollywood? Does tell an amazing story, and keeps the root of it true.
Beast's of Southern Wild
This is a heart wrenching, gorgeous film. Am really very upset that the father, played by Dwight Henry, was overlooked for an Oscar nomination.
Cabin in the Woods
This was just a well done horror movie. It was smart, and funny, and of course gory. It was just fun, and brilliant in the way only Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard know how to be.
Seeking A Friend at the End of the World
Should be the most depressing movie in the universe, and yet somehow it manages to be truly up-lifting.
Now just for peace of mind, I must give a runner up list:
Safety Not Guaranteed
The Dark Knight Rises
Side by Side
The Sessions
Moonlight Kingdom
